After a long career in journalism, including a stint as General Manager and Managing Editor of the Times West Virginian, during which she earned several statewide and national awards for her writing Poe decided to shift careers and earned a master’s degree in special education with an emphasis in autism. Poe teaches at a high school in West Virginia, where she shares her home among the hills with her husband, Mike, and three children. But her first love has always been reading, language, and art. She spends her free time reading classic novels, researching, crafting, gardening, and is currently working on a second master’s degree in Reading.
